1. Honorary members:
   
   

   Distinguished persons who have rendered notable service to the society or to the advancement of thoracic medicine in Malaysia may on recommendation of the Executive Committee be elected Honorary Members by a majority at a General Meeting. Honorary Members shall pay no subscription, and shall enjoy all the privileges of Ordinary Members except a vote at meetings and eligibility for office.

2. Ordinary Members:
   
   

   shall be legally qualified Medical Practitioners registered in Malaysia and individuals suitably qualified in related sciences. Applications for Ordinary Membership shall be made in writing to the Honorary Secretary and must be approved by the Executive Committee. Ordinary Members shall pay an annual subscription of RM106.00 (inclusive of 6% GST) payable in advance on the first of January in each year. Members who do not pay their subscriptions for 2 successive years shall cease to be members until the subscriptions have been paid in full. Ordinary Members may pay a life membership fee of RM530 (inclusive of 6% GST) to exempt themselves from annual subscriptions.

   
   
3. Affiliate Members:
   
   

   Affiliate membership shall be for non-doctor health professionals who have an interest in respiratory diseases (including nurses, physiotherapists, respiratory laboratory technicians, sleep study technicians, medical assistants and others); and any other persons duly proposed, seconded and passed in a MTS council meeting for their contributions to the Malaysian Thoracic Society or to respiratory diseases.  Other applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Affiliate Members shall pay an annual subscription of RM106.00 (inclusive of 6% GST) payable in advance on the first of January in each year. Members who do not pay their subscriptions for 2 successive years shall cease to be members until the subscriptions have been paid in full. Affiliate Members may pay a life-membership fee of RM318 (inclusive of 6% GST) to exempt themselves from annual subscriptions.

A Step-by-step Guide on Our Membership Application Process

1. Click on the 'Launch Online Membership Application' button.
2. Fill up all the necessary details and submit. Please enter all relevant details.
3. You will then be given the option to make payment online - we encourage you to pay using our online system.
4. Please note that your application will only be processed after you have made payment.
5. Applications that have been paid for will be sent to the MTS Council for approval.
6. The decision-making on membership approval is expected to take one month.
7. Successful applicants will receive an email notification confirming membership status.
8. Activated members will now be able to log in to the MTS members area.
   

Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email.
