Contemporary management of early-stage lung cancer - a thoracic surgical perspective

This lecture will highlight the need for a multi-disciplinary approach and often multi modal therapy to achieve optimal outcomes for lung cancer including early stage disease. Subtopics to be covered include the importance of meticulous pre-operative staging, intra-operative lymph node sampling, principles and rationale for neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy, evidence for less invasive surgery including sublobar resection and the role of screening to achieve stage shift with enhanced detection of early stage lung cancer.
