Welcome Message
On behalf of the organising committee, it is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to the inaugural lung cancer symposium. This meeting is jointly organised by the Malaysian Thoracic Society, the Lung Cancer Network of Malaysia and endorsed by the Malaysian Oncology Society.
Great science begets great treatments. At the core of how we practice lies a solid foundation of research. However, it is also imperative to have our very own Malaysian data to inform the way we should adapt international guidelines to local practice as well as to measure the success of our therapies. To this extent, the main beneficiary of the proceed of this conference will be the Malaysian Lung Cancer Registry which was mooted in 2015 and has since accrued over 2300 patients in this database. To date, registry collaborators have published several papers including valuable data on never before reported immunotherapy treatment for NSCLC. I think you will agree with me that this is a tremendously important effort that needs to be nurtured and grown in years to come.
It is left for me to wish you a pleasant conference filled with good science and valuable networking. Your participation has made our event ever more meaningful.
